1982
The Founding of The Associates
The Founding of The Associates

The Associates, a forward thinking business model initiated in 1982 by former Dean Roland Grandpre and a prominent group of business leaders to garner the support of alumni and the business community and to formally link them with the school. The Associates were based on the principle that a strong business school ensues the economic vibrancy of Manitoba. The first year’s target was 100 members and it was achieved on the date of the first Annual General Meeting!

1993
The Young Associates

The Young Associates were later formed in 1993 to engage young professionals and help them grow their networks and to remain connected with the Asper School of Business. 1995
40 million in financial contributions

The impact of the Associates on the success of the business school is easily seen. Over the years, the Associates have either contributed to or been instrumental in levering over $40 million in financial contributions. They have continually invested time and financial resources in developing a top quality business school and these efforts are paying off handsomely.

1999
Asper School achieves international accreditation

In 1999, the Asper School achieved international accreditation, establishing it in the top one third of all business schools in North America, and one of only five Canadian schools to have achieved this status at that time.

Today, the Associates are a major asset to the Asper School of Business. The Program allows the business community the opportunity to make a large and direct contribution to the School’s direction, preparing the business leaders of tomorrow

The membership has grown to over 300 members

Since the founding members first met in 1982, the membership has grown to over 300 members and the junior group, the Young Associates, was started in 1993 with over 80 current members.
